Invisalign understands these inconveniences and uses clear trays to align teeth instead of wires and brackets. The clear aligners are custom-made after taking 3D impressions of your mouth so that the aligners fit snugly over your teeth and do not cause speech problems and other discomforts.

Unlike glue-on braces that can only be removed by a dentist, Invisalign aligners can be removed easily at any time, especially when eating or cleaning teeth. However, these “virtually transparent” aligners are most effective when worn for at least 20 to 22 hours a day.

The Invisalign procedure

A prospective Invisalign user starts with a consultation with an Invisalign dentist or orthodontist. Then we simulate your treatment to see how each tooth will move to the desired position.

We then send the models to a dental lab to fabricate your aligners. After a few weeks of waiting, your aligners will be ready, and you can pick them up from our office. The aligners are different and need to be worn in a specific order. Each set is to be worn for about two weeks, followed by the next set that moves your teeth one step closer to perfection.

Your treatment may last between 3 and 18 months — the treatment period depends on the severity of your orthodontic challenge and compliance with using the aligners. When the treatment is complete, we will give you retainers to prevent your teeth from shifting out of position.
